~ Myths ~
- No, vampires do not sparkle.
- Sunlight does not kill them, only makes them appear transparent, hence why they avoid sunlight like the plague.
- Crosses, light and running water have no effect on vampires.
- Their teeth look human, they are not always pointed 24/7! When they are hunger or angered, then their fangs unfurl and extend into points, but they are not the Count. "I vant to suck yer blood".
- Animals do not go ballistic when near vampires. Sorry, Alliance, find another way to detect vampires.
- Vampires suck blood, they do not fly off into the night like Aladin on a carpet. No shape-shifting bats.
- Nor can vampires "glide". They walk just like humans, only more silently.
- Vampires dont have to drink their victim dry. In fact, only the sadistic ones like to watch as the body twitches and gasps like a drowning rat.
- Nooooo, vampires do not sleep in coffins. Beds are much more perferable.
- They can eat real food, it just cant sustain them.
- No, vampires are not immortal!
- Water has no effect on them, showers are something they love.
- "Oh noes, a young girl just died, a vampire got her!" Not quite. While vampires have a stated preference for the taste of young blood, they are not particular as to which gender provides it.
- Vampires.... have reflections, darnit.
- "Oh, I just got bit by a vamp, Ima vamp too now!" No... no, you are not. The victim is only turned into a vampire when both share blood with each other. However, the victim of a vampire bite does have a strange sense of obligation to the vampire, if they ever see him/her again.
~ Facts ~
- Dark Blood is set in modern times, but some regions are still old fashioned. There are cars, bicycles and TV. We're not in the cave man era here.
- Vampires do, in fact, drink both animal and human.
- A stake to the center of the heart is a very effective way to kill, period, you dont have to be undead to die by stake.
- Vampires are, in fact, slightly bothered by garlic. No, they do not die horrible deaths on smelling it. They just... are repulsed.
- Vampires can live on only one feeding per week. Royals, of course, can survive up to two weeks before feeding.
- Vampires can last without sleep, true, but only for about a week before their system shuts down and repowers by itself. (aka they pass out). After all, even vampires get tired sometimes.
- Yes, vampires can live for a long, long, looong time, but they do not age. But nor are they immortal.
- Yes, it is true that vampires have the flawless skin of eternal beauty. But not the charms. They still have their personality when they are turned, so if a 15 year old, acne-ridden bully turns into a vampire, yes, he will be beauitful, but his ugly personality will still remain.
